Does Christianity advocate Socialism?

[this is good]
In a general sense, the underpinnings of socialism throughout history have almost always been shown to be, in the end, concentrated power in the hands of governments/rulers who operate with far to much tyranny on their agenda than most reasonable people are willing to qualify as healthy. Further, again relying on history as an anecdotal teacher, socialism (by and large) hasn't been proven to work where implemented. It generally always ends in either damaging fragmentation, oppressed people, or a nation wondering why it can't keep up with the rest of the world as it's rich live lavishly and poor suffer miserably. Sadly, all three are applicable in many cases. Not only are the goals of socialism and the teachings of Jesus vastly different, but shouldn't a quick glance at our past tell us that comparing a historically failing political structure to the Kingdom of God isn't a very intellectually sound parallel to entertain?

Sorry if this sounds as though I am trying to be smart and talk about big ideas. A practical follow up is soon to follow. I need to go watch The Dirt and The Flood blow me away in someone's basement. Get jealous.

Good stuff, Sean.
